Pueblo de Abiquiu Library All-Day Celebration 1-6pm
Pueblo de Abiquiu Library invites you to attend an all-day Read-a-thon andDraw-a-thon exploring the history and stories of the Abiquiu area on Sunday March 24th, 2019. Open your voice to welcome the spring season. Drop by the library anytime from 1pm until 6pm to
hear, draw or read all-day from the novelEL HERMANO by Carmen Baca. The selection of this book is in honor of local hermano Floyd Trujillo. We are inviting 20 readers to read for 15 minutes each +
20 artists of any age to draw for the same period.
Sponsors fund each reader or artist @ $50 per participant.
The Read-a-thon/ Draw-a-thon is a reading race that helps fund our library.
Do you want to read? Please call (505) 685-4884 to sign up or stop by the library on Abiquiu Plaza for a copy of your fifteen minutes reading text.
Do you want to draw? Artists of any age will work at the library tables during the continuous reading, drawing or making a collage. The Abiquiu Book of our drawings will become part of the library’s permanent collection
Do you want to help sponsor a reader or an artist? Each reader is sponsored @ $50 for the 15 minutes of reading. This donation can come from one person or from several people. Your funding supports the operations of the library.

What: Agenda ~ osha cough medicine, with guest speaker, Jessie Emerson
Who: Anyone interested in local herbal remedy knowledge
You are welcome to bring merienda foods made with herbs, and/or tea
Osha or Chuchupate is a mountain plant found in the Rocky Mountain regions of the Southwest, at elevations between 9,000 – 10,000 ft. Native Americans often observed that bears would look for oshaafter emerging from hibernation or when wounded or sick. Osha is an indigenous word for ‘bear’ and is referred to as “Bear Medicine.” It is commonly used today by Northern New Mexicans for a variety of purposes . . .
“Guaco” (Cleome serrulata) is one of many important plants has often been used for food, to make dyes for paint, and as a treatment in traditional medicine. Genízaro folklore talks about the special way that this medicinal plant is cooked and prepared.
